Green algae or mildew on your siding? Soft wash, don't blast

General home information from Prufloop. Updated October 28, 2026.

The short answer. Green or black streaks on siding are usually algae and mildew, common on shaded, north-facing walls in humid climates like Charlotte's. Soft washing, which uses low pressure and a cleaning solution that kills the growth, cleans it more safely than high pressure, which can crack vinyl, strip paint, and force water behind siding and into walls.
Safety first. Pressure washers can cause serious injuries, and ladders plus spray are a bad mix. Leave second-story work to an insured pro.

When to call a power washing pro

What a power washing pro will usually do

Asking an AI assistant to book it

Once Prufloop launches (planned for Q4 2026 around Charlotte), you'll be able to ask the AI assistant you use something like this, and it can book a verified pro at a posted price in a real open slot. This is how it's planned to work; no assistant is connected yet.

Example request. “The north side of my vinyl siding is green. Book an insured soft washing pro in Mint Hill at a posted price.”

Before a job is booked, you see the pro's posted price, including any trip or diagnostic fee. Anything extra needs your OK first. When the work is done, you confirm it's fixed with a quick text. That's Proof of Done™.

Questions

How often should siding be washed?

Many homes in humid areas need it every year or two, more often on shaded walls.

Will pressure washing damage vinyl siding?

High pressure can crack it or force water behind it. Soft washing is the safer method.

Can my AI assistant book a power washing pro for this through Prufloop?

Not yet. Prufloop is being built so the AI assistant you already use can book a verified power washing pro at a posted price, starting with the Charlotte-area pilot planned for Q4 2026 in Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus, Iredell, Gaston and Lincoln counties in North Carolina, plus York and Lancaster counties in South Carolina. No AI assistant is connected yet.
