Oil, rust and red clay on your driveway: what cleans it

General home information from Prufloop. Updated October 28, 2026.

The short answer. Concrete driveways in the Charlotte area pick up oil drips, rust from sprinklers and red clay. Fresh oil can be lifted with absorbent and a degreaser; older oil and rust need specific cleaners. A pro's rotary surface cleaner gives an even result without the stripes and etching a pressure wand can leave. Sealing after cleaning helps stains stay out.
Safety first. Concentrated pressure from a narrow tip can etch concrete and cut skin. Use a wide tip and keep moving, or hire a pro.

When to call a power washing pro

What a power washing pro will usually do

Asking an AI assistant to book it

Once Prufloop launches (planned for Q4 2026 around Charlotte), you'll be able to ask the AI assistant you use something like this, and it can book a verified pro at a posted price in a real open slot. This is how it's planned to work; no assistant is connected yet.

Example request. “Book an insured pro to clean and seal my driveway and walkway in Cornelius. There are oil and red clay stains.”

Before a job is booked, you see the pro's posted price, including any trip or diagnostic fee. Anything extra needs your OK first. When the work is done, you confirm it's fixed with a quick text. That's Proof of Done™.

Questions

Will pressure washing remove oil stains completely?

Fresh stains usually lift. Older oil soaked deep into concrete may lighten but not disappear.

Should I seal my driveway after cleaning?

Sealing helps resist new stains and water. Ask the pro which sealer suits your concrete.
